Small Business Institute Application
Applicant Criteria


Each spring and fall approximately 25 businesses are selected to participate in the SBI program. Businesses are selected based on the following criteria:

  • The nature of the client's needs provide the student team with a challenging and rewarding learning experience.
  • The client is willing and eager to dedicate approximately 3 hours each week to working with students, meeting on a bi-weekly basis. The client's business is legal, and in the opinion of the SBI Coordinator, is ethical.
  • The client's business is legal, and in the opinion of the SBI Coordinator, is ethical.
  • The client is willing to submit pertinent information, including financial statements, to the student team.
  • The client is located within a 50 mile radius of Albuquerque.


The Application Process

Prospective clients are encouraged to submit an online application (below). Alternatively, the SBI Coordinator can be contacted for an application packet to be mailed or you can download a copy below. Upon receipt of your completed application we will contact you and schedule an interview appointment. Interview appointments are usually held during the month prior to the beginning of the semester.
