The work of the Program rests on several fundamental principles regarding solving difficult problems.

• Organizations can inculcate an entrepreneurial spirit in all employees by establishing a supportive environment
• Solutions are right before our eyes, yet ingrained patterns of thinking and past experiences prevent us from seeing optimal solutions
• Organizations develop inertia; conservatism to change that thwarts efforts to think and act creatively when facing difficult problems
• Without an entrepreneurial spirit among all staff members, organizations begin to stagnate and die (some slowly, some rapidly) and become dependent on others for sustenance
• The challenge is to build an invigorating climate where expression of ideas is encouraged and rewarded
